BOSS Carl Poore vowed to clamp down on Hamworthy United's disciplinary problems after Karl Yelland's moment of madness on Friday.

The Hammers played out a dour 0-0 draw with Lymington Town in the FA Cup extra preliminary round at Bashley despite full-back Yelland's 43rd-minute dismissal for kicking out at Charlie Willett following a scramble for possession.

It follows on from two similar incidents in warm-up matches and the new County Ground manager has seen enough.

Poore, who confirmed he would discuss internal sanctions against Yelland with chairman Steve Harvey, told the Daily Echo: "I am very disappointed and Karl is very disappointed in himself. Including pre-season, that makes it three red cards for retaliation already so there were a few words exchanged at half-time.

"Luckily, the lads dug him out of a hole. Karl quite rightly apologised, he knows you just cannot do that, especially in the FA Cup when you get the chance only once a year."

On the match, Poore added: "It was a typical cup match where nobody wanted to make a mistake. In the league match against Bashley, we passed it a bit more but this one was a bit frantic.

"We will not remember it as a great game of football. They were dangerous on set pieces but we dealt with it well and were happy to get another shot at it."

Lymo boss John Pyatt said: "I think their lad got carried away, it was a definite red card but Hamworthy deserve credit, they dug deep and got the replay.

"We worked hard but huffed and puffed a bit. Brad Strickland moving into the middle gave us some energy but overall, we didn't release the ball quickly enough."

Elsewhere on Friday, Dave Ewen put Bournemouth Poppies in front from the penalty spot but goals from Dan Mason (2), Byron Mason's header and a 50-yard scorcher from Kieran Wiseman saw Sholing cruise through 4-1.

On Saturday, Bashley made it back-to-back wins for the first time since April 2013 by ousting much-fancied Horndean 2-1. Will Heather's penalty and a 30-yard chip from Brad Morris saw Tom Prodomo's men battle back from behind to follow up a 1-0 league win over Hamworthy United.

James Guthrie put Verwood in front and later rescued a 2-2 draw at Hengrove Athletic to set up a replay at Potterne Park on Wednesday.

Grant Cormack's double and a goal from Aaron Atkinson could not save Christchurch from a 4-3 defeat at Moneyfields. Ryan Long's double saw Brockenhurst through 2-1 against Laverstock & Ford.

In Wessex One, Shane Sheridan started from where he left off last season by firing New Milton Town to a 1-0 win over Totton & Eling.

Sheridan, who notched 17 goals in 21 appearances for the Linnets last term, left it late, pouncing in the third minute of added time.

Lee Vint scored in Ringwood Town's 1-1 draw at Hythe & Dibden.
