RISING stars Jay Briggs and Ben Tinsdale will hope to impress for Great Britain when they take on Poland at Harbourside Raceway today.

The Poole Comets riders are due to feature in a junior Test match as part of this weekend's European Championship finals.

And Briggs, 17, and Tinsdale, 15, have earned praise from Comets boss Pete Barnes ahead of their respective appearances.

Barnes told the Daily Echo: "Both riders have ridden in our Elite League squad this year and for Ben to be riding at that level at 15 years old shows his considerable potential.

"He is a newcomer to the sport but his selection is well deserved.

"Jay has come through the junior ranks and, hopefully, his selection will be a springboard for success in next year's world championships in Adelaide."

Alongside the Test match, today's action consists of individual qualifying rounds and senior and junior team cup events.

Tomorrow, the men will contest the individual final (4pm), as will the women (2pm) and the juniors (12noon).

Poole Cycle Speedway Club has plenty of involvement in the European Championship finals with the following riders taking part: Dean Hook, Dawid Bas, Frazer Garnett, Callum Smith, Aaron Smith, Ben Donohue, Jay Briggs, Ben Tinsdale, Greg Gluchowski, Ollie Saunders, Maciej Ganczarek, Maddie Saunders, Macie Schmidt

Krissie Mines, Anna Tuttle and Bethany Briggs.
