STRIKER Callum Wilson has handed Cherries a huge boost by penning a new four-year contract at Vitality Stadium.

The highly-rated 24-year-old, who missed the majority of last season with a serious knee injury, will remain in Dorset until at least the summer of 2020.

Wilson was 12 months into the four-year deal he signed last summer.

He has been linked with a string of clubs since joining Cherries from Coventry two years ago.

Boss Eddie Howe revealed in May that the pacy frontman and Matt Ritchie had been the subject of an "unwanted" £20million bid from West Ham.

Wilson hit 20 league goals in his first campaign with Cherries as the club won the Championship.

He started last season strongly, netting a hat-trick in the 4-3 win over West Ham as part of five goals in his first seven games.

However, Wilson sustained a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament at Stoke in September.

He did not feature again until coming on as a late substitute at Aston Villa at the start of April.
