HOMETOWN hero Castlehyde King took home the Golden Crest trophy after a trap-to-line victory in the £4,000 showdown at Poole.
Bill Black's charge held off My Mate Max to win by half a length in the fastest time of the year, 26.36 seconds, just outside the Poole 450m track record.
Castlehyde King made a flying start but My Mate Max closed the gap on the last two bends, only for the former to cling on in the closing strides.
Black received the trophy from Stadia UK general manager Shaun Spencer-Perkins.
