CHERRIES have been linked with a move for Sporting Gijon defender Bernardo Espinosa.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Cherries have an agreement in principle to sign the 26-year-old in the summer.

Espinosa joined Sporting Gijon from Sevilla in 2013 but has reportedly been unable to agree terms on a new contract with the Spanish club.

He will be available on a free transfer when his current contract ends next month and Marca claim Cherries have offered him a better deal than Gijon.

Marca suggest Eddie Howe made an “express” request to sign Espinosa and report the player has already travelled to England for a medical.

Their article claims Cherries have offered the Colombian a four-year contract.

Espinosa suffered a ligament injury in January having previously been linked with Cherries’ Premier League rivals Watford and Everton.

Meanwhile, Cherries are also rumoured to be tracking Bolton defender Rob Holding.

The Daily Express and talkSPORT have both reported that Everton have had an offer for the 20-year-old turned down, while the Daily Mirror claim Cherries are also interested.

Holding, who won Bolton’s player-of-the-season award, has made 31 appearances having made his senior debut during a loan spell with Bury in April 2105.

Cherries have also been linked with a summer move for highly-rated Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason.

A report in the London Evening Standard suggested Cherries were preparing a £6million bid for the 24-year-old.

Mason, who is a close friend of Cherries star Adam Smith, progressed through the ranks at White Hart Lane and has made 52 Premier League appearances for the club.

He penned a five-and-a-half-year contract at Spurs in January 2015 and won his first cap for England in a friendly against Italy in Turin three months later.

Capped by his country at under-16, 19 and 20 level, Mason has also had loan spells at Yeovil, Doncaster, Millwall, Swindon and French club Lorient.
