CHERRIES manager Eddie Howe hailed goalkeeper Artur Boruc for his smart penalty save during today's 1-1 draw with West Brom.

Boruc kept out Craig Gardner's spot-kick when he superbly tipped it on to the crossbar on the stroke of half-time.

"It was an outstanding save, Artur is an outstanding goalkeeper and he has saved some good penalties for us over the years," said Howe.

"It was a massive moment for us because if we had gone down 2-0, it might have been a bridge too far.

"Before the season started, we would have bitten off arms, legs, whatever was available to be in the position we are in now."
