CHELSEA boss Jose Mourinho felt his side had wasted a string of chances against Cherries but refused to point the finger at Nemanja Matic for his glaring second-half miss.

Matic, who wore a protective face mask throughout the clash at Stamford Bridge, nodded over from close range after Steve Cook had inadvertently helped on Willian’s fizzing cross.

As well as defending Matic, Mourinho added that his side’s deliveries into the box had deserved better.

He said: “The only time we had a contact with the ball (in the box) was the Matic one but it was difficult for him with his mask.

“It was also difficult because the cross was really fast, which made it difficult for him to react and to give direction to the ball. I know the goal was empty but that one was difficult.

“The other ones, short and low crosses, if you are in the box you tap the ball in.

“These are big chances that won’t go towards the statistics of the game because there is no real shot on target.

“These are big chances that we have to score.”
