LERONE Plummer's solitary strike reaffirmed Lymington Town's top-six credentials in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division with victory at 10-man Andover Town.

The hosts had defender Jordan O'Donnell sent off for denying Plummer an obvious goalscoring opportunity after 16 minutes but went on to edge a tight first half, despite their numerical disadvantage.

Lymo, however, rallied after the break with Plummer claiming the all-important goal after 64 minutes to hand his side a 1-0 win and six-point cushion over seventh-placed Blackfield & Langley.

Hamworthy United did not have a fixture and remained 12th in the table.

In Division One, Ringwood Town were denied a late breakthrough by Hythe & Dibden defender Jon Brock's goal line clearance in a 0-0 stalemate at Clayfields.

Victory would have hoisted Charlie Pierson's men from 11th to eighth in the table and seen them leapfrog their opponents in the process.

The closest Hythe came to scoring was on the stroke of half-time when Mark Lilley's volleyed effort was tipped away by the visiting stopper Nick Iles.

Elsewhere, New Milton Town's winless run was extended to four matches with the Linnets held to a 1-1 draw at lowly Andover New Street.

Paul Bayston netted at Foxcotte Park but the share of the spoils denied Callum Brooks's charges the opportunity to close the gap on second-placed promotion rivals Tadley Calleva, who lost 2-0 at home to Downton.
