WORLD champion Scott Mitchell is to swap darts for Dean Court tomorrow when he takes his place in the directors’ box for Cherries’ clash with Derby.

The Championship leaders will aim to maintain their lofty perch against the second-placed Rams and Mitchell and wife Sharon will be among those in attendance.

Mitchell, 44, a Cherries fan since he was a boy, accepted an invitation from the club off the back of his global triumph at Lakeside last month.

‘Scotty Dog’ and Sharon will dine with chairman Jeff Mostyn before taking in the mouth-watering fixture and the England international, who attended his first Cherries game in 1982, is relishing the prospect.

He told the Daily Echo: “I haven’t been to watch too much over the past five or six years because darts commitments at weekends haven’t allowed it.

“But I can’t wait to meet Jeff Mostyn and other people at the club who I have read and heard about. It will be nice to watch the game with some foam on my seat for a change!

“Other than Bransgore Rec back in my pub football days, Sharon has never been to football before so she’s looking forward to it.

“I used to embarrass her and the kids and she used to leave by half-time, so it will be nice for her to watch a whole game!

”Hopefully, a good result will spur me on to a great performance of my own at the Scottish Open this weekend.”

Mitchell helped Dorset to a 28-11 win at Staffordshire at the weekend, a result which boosted his team’s British Inter-County Championships Division One promotion hopes.
