POOLE Town boss Tom Killick says he is keen to win the Southern League Cup now that his team are just three matches from glory.

Dolphins entertain Truro City in the quarter-final tomorrow (7.45pm) with a last-four spot and a minimum £750 in prize money at stake.

While Killick admitted he had ‘not been particularly concerned’ about the competition in earlier rounds, he revealed that progress had changed his mind.

The boss said: “Now that we’ve got to the quarter-final stage, I think you view it slightly differently. I tend to think that having got to the quarter-final, it would be a good competition to win.

“Having come this far we should do our best to try and win it, whereas in the earlier rounds you’re not particularly concerned about progress.

“There is prize money in the competition and if we can win a little bit then that would help.”

Poole are without striker Richard Gillespie due to work commitments while Keith Emmerson is unavailable and Charlie Davis is cup-tied.

Killick revealed he would give some of the club’s youngsters the chance to shine in the cup clash.

He said: “I will probably give two or three players from our under-21 side an opportunity. Harry Helyar will play and Jack Dickson and Anthony Harris will probably play.

“Our fixture schedule for the next month is busy so I think it makes sense to rotate things a little bit without reducing the strength of the team.”
