MANAGER Tom Killick hopes to name a new loan signing tomorrow ahead of Poole Town’s hectic February schedule.

The Dolphins boss is in talks with a Football League club over the prospect of borrowing a player to replace departed Portsmouth loanee Jack Maloney.

Poole, who saw yesterday’s trip to Arlesey Town called off shortly after boarding the team coach, kick off a busy month with Tuesday’s Red Insure (Southern League) Cup quarter-final against Truro City.

The Tatnam club’s eight matches in four weeks include a double header against title rivals Weymouth, a trip to fellow contenders Truro and a crunch home clash with big-spending St Neots Town.

Killick told the Daily Echo: “I would like to bring in another player on loan. With so many games coming up it is the ideal time to strengthen.

“Having lost Jack Maloney it might be an idea to take a wide player. We have held discussions with a Football League club and hope to have it sorted out before our next game.”

Meanwhile, Killick is keen to see the back of the winter weather with Poole already required to fit at least 20 league and cup matches into the final 12 weeks of the regular season.

“We do not have many free midweek slots left,” he added.

“If we are to avoid the fixture pile up that caused us so many problems last season then we need the weather to be kind to us.

“I hope we are little way from that but it is a worry. We did not see widespread postponements throughout the division at the weekend and it was frustrating to see so many of our rivals play while we were kicking our heels.”
