CALLUM Wilson finally exorcised his demons of the New York Stadium when he put the finishing touches to Cherries’ victory over Rotherham on Saturday.

Wilson bagged his 14th goal of the season with a predatory finish from close range after Charlie Daniels’ cross and Brett Pitman’s tenacity had created the opening.

And the 22-year-old’s second-half strike helped erase the nightmare of his previous appearance at the venue during former club Coventry’s 3-1 win at Rotherham last season.

Wilson told the Daily Echo: “I dislocated my shoulder here on New Year’s Day and was out for two to three months.

“I came back for the first time just after new year but didn’t play in the FA Cup game so it was nice to leave with a good memory.”

An eventful individual display for Wilson also saw him have an earlier effort ruled out for a foul, while he was denied a clear-cut penalty after being felled by Millers goalkeeper Adam Collin.

He added: “It was nice to get a goal and the three points. I was delighted to get back on track after last week’s defeat and it is always nice to get on the scoresheet.

“The disallowed goal was a bit 50-50. I did move him aside a bit but it is a contact sport. I finished it well but, unfortunately, it wasn’t given.

“For the penalty, I spoke to the linesman and he said he thought it was but would let the referee decide. Unfortunately, that didn’t go my way but I was delighted to get on the scoresheet.”
