SCOTT Mitchell has turned down the chance to compete in this year’s PDC Qualifying School.
Dorset’s darts talisman, who last night won the 2015 BDO World Championship with an epic 7-6 victory over Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams, had until 12 noon today to sign up.
In a change to this year's format, the four Lakeside semi-finalists are no longer offered a tour cards but Mitchell is expected to be invited to the PDC Grand Slam in Wolverhampton when giants such as Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen take to the stage in November.
And ‘Scotty Dog’, who last night exclusively told the Daily Echo that he planned to stick with the BDO, this morning confirmed his intent to not take up the Q School slot.
“The BDO have done a lot for me and I want to be their champion, take the trophy round and be the best ambassador I can be,” said Mitchell.
