NEW Milton swept aside Hambledon as they earned a consummate seven-wicket win at Ridge Meadow.

The hosts were reduced to a paltry 47 after being put in to bat, with none of their batsmen scoring more than 12.

Nick Gargaro had a particularly profitable day in totalling figures of four for six, while Lee Beck claimed two for 16 and Nick Elliott two for 19.

In reply, captain Ryan Beck led the way for New Milton, scoring 26, which included four boundaries.

Nick Park and Ben Lawes steered the visitors to victory, leaving them top of Southern Premier League Division One at the end of the day’s play.

There was no such success for Bournemouth, who slipped to defeat in a low-scoring contest against Basingstoke and North Hants at Chapel Gate.

The home side won the toss and kept Basingstoke down to 110 all out, as Gurpreet Singh, Michael Kitson and JP Cronje claimed two wickets apiece.

However, Bournemouth found the going tough with the bat and could not get to grips with Martyn James, who bowled six maidens in 10 overs and took out Ben Bridgen, Kitson and George Russell.

The hosts could only make it to 78 all out in the 36th over, condemning them to a 32-run loss.

Singh (20) and captain Martin Miller (19) were the only players to make it into double figures for Bournemouth.
