AFC Bournemouth's Steve Cook: Fearsome form of Lewis Grabban and Yann Kermorgant has boosted the whole squad

Bournemouth Echo: MOMENTUM: AFC Bournemouth defender Steve Cook MOMENTUM: AFC Bournemouth defender Steve Cook

CENTRE-HALF Steve Cook declared that the fearsome form of strike partners Yann Kermorgant and Lewis Grabban had added extra impetus to Cherries’ end-of-season charge.

Kermorgant has plundered nine goals from the nine Championship fixtures he has started alongside top-scorer Grabban, who has weighed in with another seven.

Their prolific return helped Cherries to a run of nine victories in 14 Championship outings since the start of March, form which saw the Dean Court outfit climb from 17th place up to their current position of ninth and guaranteed the club’s highest-ever Football League finish.

And with the deadly duo still on song during Saturday’s 4-1 success over Nottingham Forest, Cook said the confidence of their goalscoring exploits had caused confidence to spread through the whole side.

Cook told the Daily Echo: “It helps to have strikers in such good form and Grabbs and Yann have linked up so well. Their goals have allowed everyone to play with confidence and we have improved all over the pitch.

“In the past, we saw a few chances go begging and it made everyone very aware that the opposition could nick it with one half-chance, but that has totally changed now.

“We are taking our chances and that eases things for the defenders, it just makes everyone that bit more relaxed and confident on the ball, it has a positive impact on everyone in the team.”

Let's not forget Cookies 2!!! goals this season and the sterling work of our back four (whoever they are at the time) + Campie.

The end of the season is looking interesting for Reading & Brighton up top and from Blackpool down to B'ham at the bottom. Let's hope we turn Millwall over and nail at least 9th place. We are guaranteed 11th whatever happens so have cracked it for most points & highest ever league position!
WHAT A SEASON, WELL DONE ALL AT AFCB!

Let's hope we keep hold of the best players over the summer.blackburn for play offs hopefully, ahead of our 2 rivals. I think brum or donny will go down. Can't see either winning at leicester or Bolton.

Personally I'd prefer a south coast team in the play-offs & PL so am backing Brighton.

My, how your spelling has improved Mr Archer!

It's a big step from the thumb-prints you were doing a season ago.
Respect!

England, ooops sorry Southampton FC (easy mistake to make!) are the South Coast Giants. Roy Hodgson now has a season ticket at SMS. I see we had two players in the PFA Team of the Season. I see we are now guaranteed 8th, nice. Serious question, (yeah right), the FIFA Fair Play Rules, how will that impact on little AFCB? I mean, gates of around 10K cant sustain the club, so that means a massive loss that has to be underpinned by the Russians. I understand losses of £37 mill are allowed within the rules for us big clubs, not sure re the lower leagues.

Kind regards

Serious answer:
I don't know what losses us 'little' clubs are allowed to sustain but am sure our board does and can work with it.

Wind-up answer:
Credit to the Saints for nurturing England talent (albeit with AFCB input in some cases - kerchinnnggg!), but will Roy still need his season ticket in August if/when these guys flee your nest???

Saints have done really well for themselves, especially being located in such a deprived area. It's just a shame that the banter, or the punctuation, can't match the performance of the team. Better luck next season.

England players that will most likely be t BIG clubs next season. You may be in the Premiership but you will ALWAYS be a selling club, a stepping stone for players until h real big boys come knocking.

They don't call you lot 'Scummers' for no reason do they? Most hated SouthCoast club.
