CHERRIES legend Steve Fletcher is to receive a special award from the Football League in recognition of a lifetime’s achievement in the game.
The 41-year-old former striker, who holds the record for the most Cherries appearances (728), will be presented with the Sir Tom Finney Award at The Brewery in London on Sunday.
Fletcher, now head of UK recruitment at Dean Court, told the Daily Echo: “I’m very honoured. I couldn’t believe it when I was told, I thought it was a wind-up.
“It’s something you don’t think will come your way when you’re starting out in football. I’m very privileged and very humbled.”
