WIMBORNE Town will head to Clevedon in high spirits according to boss Steve Cuss after he watched his side cruise to a fourth win in five league matches last night.

Relegation battlers Guildford City were put to the sword 3-0 by the ruthless Magpies who contin-ued their fine fettle in Southern South & West thanks to goals from Mark Gamble, Jamie Davidson and substitute Matt Kemble.

Just before half-time, with the visitors a goal to the good, City’s Jamie Thoroughgood, a defender dual registered with Verwood Town, was dismissed for denying Davidson an obvious goalscoring opportunity before Cuss’s men charged to victory.

“We went there to do the job and were good value for our win,” said Cuss.

“We’ve been putting in some good performances at home and wanted to take that level of performance into our away games.

"Having won three games on the bounce at Cuthbury, this was the first of three consecutive games on the road and it gave us the foundation to go into those with increased confidence.”

Wimborne’s success at the Spectrum Ground moved them to within eight points of the play-off places ahead of their trip to the Hand Stadium on Saturday to face another struggling side.

However, with Ian Oliver (unavailable) and Davidson (suspended) missing, Cuss is not resting on his laurels.

He added: “Clevedon is always a tough place to visit. They always make life hard for you and I can certainly never remember an easy fixture there.”

Magpies: (from) Harvell, Arnold, Maybury, Oliver, Costello, Blake, Phillipson-Masters, Griffin, Kemble, Davidson, Stokoe, Gamble, Webb, Battison.

  •  Elsewhere, Bashley travel to Weymouth in the Southern League Premier Division.
