FIVE East Dorset teams were crowned regional winners to progress to the second stage of the national schools trampolining championships.

Broadstone Middle, Corfe Hills and Parkstone Grammar were all successful against other schools from the south west at The City Academy in Bristol.

The three schools entered a total of five teams who have all reached the zonal stage of the competition in Kent next month.

To qualify for the zonals, individuals must come in the top three in their age category.

Team scores are worked out by taking the three highest scores from team members in both rounds – a set routine and a voluntary routine which are added together.

The top two teams go through to the zonals.

Broadstone Middle School’s under-11 team came first with Louise Booker winning the individual contest, followed by class-mate Francesca Tilsed who came runner-up.

Broadstone’s under-13 team also came top, narrowly beating Parkstone Grammar into second place.

Parkstone Grammar’s Izzy Warren won the individual contest.

Broadstone’s Amy Sturgess, who came fourth will also have a place in the zonals due to the girl in second being unable to compete at the next stage.

Corfe Hills’ team, despite some last-minute team changes due to injuries, managed solid routines to take the team through in second place in the under-15 girls group.

And finally, Parkstone Grammar’s under-19 team qualified through in an easy first place with Ellie Kaye claiming the individual honours.

The girls will compete against individuals and teams from across the south, south east and London in late January in a bid to qualify for the national finals in March in Newcastle.
