PATIENT Poole Town star Will Spetch says he is preparing for a “waiting game” as he attempts to realise his dream of playing professional football.

The 22-year-old defender will tomorrow line up for Poole at Bashley after returning to Dorset following a trial at Championship outfit Huddersfield Town.

Highly-rated Spetch trained with the Terriers following a similar stint with Cherries last month, as well as a friendly appearance for a Portsmouth XI prior to that.

Spetch, who can play at centre-half or left-back, had alerted the attention of numerous scouts following a series of impressive displays for Southern Premier Poole.

But he believes he could have to bide his time as he awaits the chance to swap Tatnam for an opportunity to prove himself in the full-time ranks.

Spetch, pictured, told the Echo: “It was definitely a good experience to go up to Huddersfield and train with a Championship side for a week and to also be within those facilities.

“I thought it went really well, considering I was going into another Championship squad after also being at Bournemouth. The standard of those clubs is quite a step up from our level.

“I had some positive feedback but I will have to wait and see what happens. Huddersfield said they would keep monitoring me with their scout on the south coast and I will see how things progress. It is a bit of a waiting game.”

Spetch, who is under contract with Poole, was keen to express his thanks to Dolphins boss Tom Killick and vice-chairman Chris Reeves.

He added: “I have just got to concentrate on doing well for Poole. Tom Killick and Chris Reeves have been spot on by letting me go on trial.”
