BOURNEMOUTH Poppies enjoyed a rare slice of luck this week after being reinstated to the Hampshire Senior Cup.

The Hampshire FA confirmed that Poppies’ first round conquerors Totton & Eling, who won 2-0 at Victoria Park, had been booted out of the county competition for fielding the ineligible Rob Clarke.

As a result, Poppies have been handed a second round trip to Wessex One outfit Stockbridge, scheduled for Tuesday, October 8.

Ken Vaughan’s men will hope to take their new-found fortune into tomorrow’s trip to fellow Wessex Premier strugglers Downton (3pm).

Backmarkers Bournemouth, without a point from their opening eight league matches, trail their third-bottom hosts by six points.
