CORFE Mullen United Juniors made a cracking start to their first foray in the Hampshire Cup as no fewer than 11 players got on the scoresheet in this net-busting success.

The hosts comfortably progressed past Tyro League outfit Sarisbury Sparks Amber with James Lane (5), Jack Painter-Andrews (4), Jack Gibson (3), Alex Dobson (2), Harry Lewis (2), Lucas Dennett (2), Marcus Holding (2), Ben Bassinder (2), Ollie Lake (2), George Heap and Callum Southwick finding the net.

There was also one own goal.

Mullen manager Mike Dobson was understandably delighted with the display and said he was confident his team could build on their recent success.

Corfe retained the Dorset Cup last season as well as reaching the Bournemouth Cup final. The team also won eight youth tournaments over the summer, including the R&T Tours in Woolacombe.

On the match, Dobson said: “Unfortunately the first round does draw teams from the top divisions against teams from the lower divisions, and this was one of those.

“We have strengthened the squad with four excellent new players and feel we have enough quality to compete in the Hampshire Cup this season.”

Corfe, who won their opening league fixture 7-2 against Bournemouth Electric, will face Petersfield Town in the second round.
