RIVAL bosses Adi Trimby and Carl Poore begged to differ after the battle of the rookie managers had finished all square at Christchurch Road.

Trimby, just two games into his tenure, felt Parley had deserved all three points, while Poore, who took the reins at the start of the season, thought a draw had been a “fair result”.

Matt Newbery opened the scoring for Parley in the 29th minute before Nick Day’s equaliser 16 minutes from time ensured honours would finish even in this bottom-four encounter.

Trimby said: “We should have won quite comfortably. On the balance of play and the amount of possession and number of chances we had, we should have won.

“Having said that, their players’ heads never went down, even though we had a lot of possession. We were disappointed not to come away with the win, which is much needed because this was our sixth draw from nine games. I have been really pleased with the effort, we just need to get that first win under our belts.”

Cranes boss Poore said: “I thought Parley played some good football in the first half but couldn’t find the final ball which resorted to them going long a few times and it caught us out on numerous occasions because we were flat-footed.

“We had some good chances in the second half and a couple of substitutes reignited the team. We got the goal we deserved but, all in all, a draw was a fair result and I was happy with a point.”

Former Poole skipper Poore was forced to hang up his boots in February due to persistent ankle and knee problems and says he is enjoying management.

“It is different to what I was used to as a player because I was in an environment where people were getting paid and the manager had control of players,” said Poore.

“We don’t have that luxury in this league. Players have to pay to play and we can’t dictate if they have other things to do on a matchday.

“Cranborne is quite far out for people so it is hard to attract players. A lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes and our aim is to get the club to a respectable position in the league.”

Trimby, another ex-Poole player, stepped into the Parley hot-seat after Gary Head had parted company with the club earlier this season and describes the current team as a “work in progress”.

He added: “I am trying to put my own stamp on things. It is a case of trying to get the blend right and then develop it. I think we have got some way to go but I am happy with how things are going. We want to get the spirit back and get the club back on an even keel.”
