SKIPPER Martin Miller is hoping Bournemouth can lay the ghost of an early-season horror show when they visit Alton tomorrow.

The Lions were skittled for a mere 94 runs at Chapel Gate back in May, losing to the Hampshire outfit by seven wickets.

But Miller believes Bournemouth can prove more than a match for the same opponents this time round having put on stronger displays in recent weeks.

Bournemouth’s captain told the Daily Echo: “I am hoping that we can perform considerably better than we did when we were bundled out by Alton nine weeks ago.

“That was definitely our worst performance of the season to date, but we are playing better cricket now than earlier in the season.

“If we can improve further on our recent performances against Bashley, South Wilts and Havant in the last three weeks then there is no reason why we cannot beat Alton on Saturday.”

Miller will be without Alex Allum and Matt Mixer (both unavailable) with Jake Hurley and Shambeel Choudhry coming in.

Bournemouth: Miller, Keath, Hand, Scott, Rogers, Hurley, Coombs, Smith, Watton, Wainwright, Choudhry.

Captain Ali Jaffer returns to Lymington’s line-up as the New Forest outfit attempt to get their season back on track at high-flying Ventnor.

Cameron Grierson also comes back in with Indy Chakrabarti and Kieran Moors making way with Lymo looking to halt a run of three consecutive defeats. Dave Kidner misses out with a hamstring injury.

Lymington: Henry, Grierson, Jaffer, Treagus, Cowley, Edwards, Metcalfe, Beetham, Ellis, Freeman, McCann.

Meanwhile, in Division One, New Milton skipper Ryan Beck will be forced into three changes for the home match with Hartley Wintney.

Lee Beck, who broke his finger in last weekend’s President’s Cup final success over Lymington, joins Nick Gargaro on the sidelines but Mark House returns.

New Milton: R Beck, N Park, J Park, House, Elliott, G Watts, T Prodomo, Waller, Edwards, Loader, Staniford.
