POOLE Town were last night remaining tight-lipped on the prospect of profiting from Charlie Austin’s proposed move to the Premier League with Hull City.

The former Dolphins hotshot, 24, is today expected to complete his meteoric rise from the Wessex League to English football’s top table in a deal that could be worth up to £4.5million with performance-related add-ons.

It is believed that former club Swindon Town, who signed Austin from the Tatnam outfit in 2009, will receive 17.5 per cent of Burnley’s profit on the player with Poole hoping for one final windfall from the sale of the former bricklayer.

Vice-chairman Chris Reeves politely declined to comment on Poole’s potential entitlement but, speaking in November 2012, said he “would expect the club to benefit from any transfer from Burnley”.

The Daily Echo understands Poole have already pocketed between £165,000 and £200,000 since Austin started blazing his goalscoring trail in the pro game for the Robins.

Austin’s strike rate remains better than a goal every other game after plundering 82 in 155 appearances with Swindon and Burnley.

And Reeves could not be happier for Hull’s prospective new hitman as the former Poole predator gets ready to line up at places like Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge.

Reeves told the Daily Echo: “We are all thrilled for Charlie. When he was with us, we felt sure we had an absolute gem and he has taken every step up the ladder in his stride.

“In terms of his relationship with us, he has remained grounded and is the same Charlie we know and love from his time here.

“We wish him all the success his undoubted talent will bring him and I am sure he will only add to the pride we feel for him and in ourselves for the part we played.”
