BASHLEY have been dealt a blow with the news that opener Sean Terry will miss Saturday’s derby with bottom club Bournemouth.

Hampshire prospect Terry played through the pain barrier against South Wilts last week but pulled up while featuring for Hampshire’s second team on Monday.

However, despite the setback, Bash skipper Richard Morris is hopeful the influential youngster will make a swift recovery.

Morris told the Daily Echo: “Sean managed to get through last Saturday but he was in a lot of pain and Monday’s match proved too much for him.

“He was struggling to pick a bat up and, with his heavy schedule at Hampshire, we’re very conscious of needing to manage the situation properly.

“It’s more of a precautionary measure and we’re not expecting him to be out for long but his thumb is very sore at the moment and that has caused his hand to swell up pretty badly.

“Hopefully, a bit of rest will do the trick and he’ll be able to line up for us next week.”

Luke Webb, who made his debut for Dorset last weekend, replaces Terry at the crease while ex-Bournemouth skipper Simon Ridley returns for the trip to Chapel Gate in place of Chris Vaughan.

Meanwhile, the hosts are boosted by the return of bowlers Ryan Scott and Anschuman Singh who replace Alex Kennedy (unavailable) and Pete Smith (injured).

Tom Wainwright is unavailable behind the sticks so Luke Matthews comes into Martin Miller’s side.

Bournemouth: Miller, Keath, Hand, Scott, Rogers, Hurley, Old, Watton, Coombs, Matthews, Singh.
