BOSS Tom Killick insists the door will always be open for Keith Emmerson to return following his departure from Poole Town this week.

The versatile full-back, who was voted player of the year by Dolphins fans last season, announced his exit after Army commitments took him to London.

And with a baby on the way, the man who seamlessly slotted into midfield and forward roles when required left the club, with Killick frustrated over the loss of the flexible left-footer.

The Poole manager told the Daily Echo: “While we thought he would be available for some weekend games, we always knew opportunities to play Keith would be limited. I am disappointed from the club’s point of view but I understand his reasons and they are fully justified.

“He is another player who has been absolutely immense for us and I am sad that he won’t be around.

“He has been brilliant but circumstances might change in the future and, if they do, the door will always be open for Keith to return.”

Meanwhile, Poole’s Southern Premier rivals Bashley have bolstered their squad by re-signing three of their players from last season.

Midfielder Josh Casey, centre-half Tim Stephenson and utility man Matt Finlay have all agreed terms to stay at Bashley Road under newly-appointed managerial duo Stewart Kearn and Paul Gazzard.

The trio join Gary Middleton in staying at the New Forest club, with Kearn optimistic that more of last season’s squad will stick around.

Kearn said: “We’re hoping a couple of others will sign up and we are chatting to a few of them at the moment.

“We always felt it was important to load up with experience in key areas to give us a solid backbone because we know we will have to bring in youngsters.”
