NEIL Moss is predicting a battle royale for the Cherries goalkeeping spot – with Darryl Flahavan and Shwan Jalal ready to challenge Ryan Allsop.

Goalkeeper coach Moss, pictured below, has been putting the trio through their paces since Cherries returned for the start of pre-season training on Monday.

Now in his fifth season on the coaching staff, Moss told the club website: “You evolve as a coach but I was pleased with how pre-season went last year and the only disappointment was that Darryl got injured towards the end in one of the friendlies.

“I was pleased with their fitness going into the season and the preparation will be similar this year, but I will be thinking up a few new sessions to keep them on their toes.

“All three goalkeepers will be giving 100 per cent to try to prove they should be in the team at the start of the season.

“Ryan has the shirt as it is but the other two boys have come back raring to go. My job should be relatively easy and I shouldn’t have to be motivating any of them to give any more.”

Moss, who won promotion as a player with the club in 2003, added: “We aren’t going into the Championship to make up the numbers. We want to go in there and really challenge.

“From my point of view as a fan of the club and as a goalkeeper coach, I think it is fantastic. We have great facilities and there are no excuses.

“We can’t turn around and say we can’t do our jobs because we haven’t got this, that or the other. Everything is given to us to help us do the best job we can.”
