BROADSTONE captain Greg Parsons is tipping destructive batsman Steve Trembath to become a star of the Dorset League.

Trembath displayed his skills with a thoroughly dominant innings during his club’s Premier Division victory over Stalbridge on Saturday.

Stalbridge were simply unable to contain Trembath (pictured) as he cut loose and wasted no time in firing Broadstone to a rapid nine-wicket success.

He smashed a remarkable unbeaten 66 – from just 21 deliveries – and brought up a hard-hitting half-century off only 19 balls.

Trembath, who smashed his final 40 runs from an incredible nine deliveries, struck no fewer than five sixes and seven fours.

Broadstone skipper Parsons believes his team-mate has the qualities to emerge as an influential player on the local circuit.

Parsons told the Daily Echo: “It was a devastating innings.

“He is such a destructive player that when he gets going, you really get the feeling that he can change a game in just a few overs.

“He has become a real leader of this team, performing with the ball as well as in the field.

“We have got a young, developing team at the moment and he has been a good influence on them.

“Steve is an extremely talented young individual who has the ability to excel at this level for a long time,” added Parsons.
