EDDIE Howe’s promotion winners have hit the jackpot for a second time after landing an all-expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas.

Howe’s squad will be treated to a four-day, three-night stay at a luxury five-star resort as their reward for clinching a place in the Championship.

The Cherries board of directors, following consultation with co-owner Maxim Demin, have agreed to foot the bill for the post-promotion trip to the States.

Leaving on Thursday, the players will stay in the heart of the famous gambling strip, their hotel situated on the same boulevard as the prestigious Bellagio and Caesars Palace.

Although the majority of Howe’s squad will fly to America, some players with previous commitments and those under 21 will stay behind.

Under laws in the state of Nevada, people must be aged 21 to gamble in a casino and purchase or consume alcohol. Residents staying in the team hotel must also be at least 21.

The trip was given the green light after the proposal had been discussed at board level and then rubber-stamped by co-owner Demin as Cherries closed in on promotion.

Cherries chairman Eddie Mitchell told the Daily Echo: “We wanted to offer the players something to show our appreciation of their efforts and hard work this season. The trip was agreed unanimously by the board.

“It isn’t so much a reward because that will come in their careers. They have earned it for the club. Our revenue will increase as a result of promotion and, by and large, the players are the ones who have achieved it. They have all worked very hard.

“We want them to enjoy themselves and, hopefully, pick up some nice weather. We also want them to relax and reflect on what they have achieved this season and think about what lies ahead next season, which is more hard work.”

Mitchell, meanwhile, was quick to scotch suggestions the club was planning a major rebranding programme over the summer, although he did confirm a subtle change to the club crest was being considered.

While rumours on Internet forums and social network sites claimed a name change could be on the cards, Mitchell told the Echo the club would remain as AFC Bournemouth.

“My own personal opinion is that Boscombe should be restored to the name but it is fine as it is and there are no plans to change it,” added Mitchell.

“There are some improvements that we could make to the club crest to bring it up to date and that would be the only rebranding.”
