MANAGER Tom Killick is set to press on with his Premier Division masterplan after already drawing up a shortlist of potential transfer targets.

The Poole boss previously had one eye on next term despite being unable to firm up his ideas due to the club’s Division One South & West title tilt.

But with the silverware and promotion secured on Tuesday, Killick is poised to step up his preparations for life in the Southern League’s top flight.

Dolphins, who drew 0-0 at Clevedon on Wednesday, claimed the championship with time to spare after fending off rivals Swindon Supermarine.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s home clash with Abingdon United (3pm), Killick told the Daily Echo: “When it is coming to the end of a season for any manager, you have to look to next season, whether or not you are looking to get promoted.

“You have to keep an eye on it and we were certainly doing that while also focusing on our fight for promotion. We were already looking to tie down some of the existing players and look at other targets. Now that we know which league we will be in, we can begin to firm up those plans.”

One player already contracted for the 2013-14 campaign is striker Dan Cann. After making a rapid recovery from major knee surgery, Cann continued his comeback by netting both goals in Dolphins’ 2-1 win at Cinderford six days ago.

Killick said: “I think what Dan has done is exceptional. He has probably put in as much effort as most professional players would have done but has had to fit that around a full-time job.

“The rewards he is getting – playing in the Dorset Senior Cup final and scoring the two goals on Saturday – are fully deserved.”

Frontman Michael Charles is likely to miss the rest of the season after sustaining a hamstring injury at Clevedon.

Meanwhile, Killick confirmed Dolphins had yet to discover when they would be presented with their league trophy.
