OUTGOING Christchurch boss Graham Kemp will take charge of Winchester City Community FC when his Hurn Bridge reign ends next month.

The long-serving Priory manager is currently seeing out the season after announcing that he would be standing down after six years at the helm.

Kemp is on course to guide Christchurch to third place in the Wessex Premier, a feat he achieved last term as well as winning the Wessex League Cup.

But the 47-year-old opted to quit Hurn Bridge and has been quickly snapped up by Winchester's Dave Malone.

Kemp, who said he was “gutted” to be leaving Christchurch, said: “There is no budget at Christchurch and there won't be much of one at Winchester. But at least I will have the option, if we are challenging at the top, to strengthen going into the last few months of the season.”

Winchester look likely to be playing in the Wessex League next season after finishing bottom of the Southern Division One South & West table.

Kemp added: “At Christchurch, I just needed an extra 10 per cent for a serious title challenge, but now I will be going to a club who will give me that option. Dave isn't going to throw money at it and I don't like throwing money at average players.

“Alresford and ourselves have shown that you don't need a big budget to be up there. But at least Winchester should have a small budget that will help to make the difference between third place and the title.”

Christchurch coach Jim Totczyk will join Kemp at Winchester, where he is also likely to work alongside current City manager James Taylor.
