Broadstone Middle School under-11s have reached the English Schools FA Danone Nations Cup Finals in May.

The Dorset school were one of 10 teams competing in the seven-a-side South West Regional Finals at Fry’s Club, Keynesham in Bristol.

Broadstone won their group, which contained five teams, with a 3-0 victory against Gormeldon Primary School (Wiltshire) and 1-1 draws against William Fletcher Primary (Oxford) and Sandy Hill Academy (Cornwall).

The magnificent seven then toppled Mary Dean’s C of E School, from Devon, 1-0 in the semi-final.

In the final, Broadstone lost 2-0 after extra-time to Elmbridge Junior School.

But with two teams qualifying, Broadstone went through to the next stage of the competition at The Hive, London, in May.

Broadstone’s Kevin Hoare was the tournament’s top scorer with three goals.

They will be one of 32 teams bidding for five places up for grabs to play in the following month’s final tournament to decide who represents Team England at the Danone Nations Cup.
