WIMBORNE boss Steve Cuss insists Sholing will be no pushover despite the Boatmen’s decision to take voluntary demotion from the Southern League at the end of the season.

The Hampshire outfit, beaten play-off semi-finalists in Division One South & West for three years in succession, are expected to return to the Wessex League.

Cuss told the club website: “Sholing are a close-knit club and they will be looking to finish the season on a high. We are looking forward to playing them one more time at this level and it should be a good game.”

Sholing have already beaten the Magpies twice this season, winning 1-0 at Cuthbury in the league and triumphing 4-3 at the Silverlake Arena in the League Cup – netting injury-time winners on both occasions.

But Wimborne, who will be boosted by the return of Mickey Hubbard and Matt Kemble, go into the game on the back of last week’s impressive 5-1 victory over promotion-chasing Yate Town.

Poole Town boss Tom Killick is hoping to draft in a new defender in time for their Division One South & West clash with Winchester City at Tatnam (3pm).

  • Boss Frank Gray is hoping new recruit Alex Moth will give Bashley a different option after securing the services of the former Cherries trainee.

Striker Moth was one of four players released by Cherries last week and could make his debut against Bideford tomorrow.

Gray said: “We have known of Alex for a while and, with a lot of games coming up, it was an ideal opportunity to boost the numbers.

“He already has a bit of Southern League experience under his belt and, hopefully, he can add something a bit different in the final third.”
