EX-Cherries star Brian Stock has singled out attacking midfielder James Coppinger as Doncaster’s danger man.

Stock, who played for both clubs, says Cherries will need to keep a close eye on Coppinger should he feature when they host Rovers tomorrow (3pm).

A product of the Cherries youth ranks, Stock went on to captain Rovers to victory in the League One play-off final against Leeds in 2008 when Coppinger also starred.

Stock told the Daily Echo: “He is one of the best players I have ever played with. He offers so much as a footballer. He is technically gifted and can turn a game on its head, as he did in the play-off semi-final against Southend when he scored a fantastic hat-trick.

“If you want to be challenging for promotion, you would certainly want a James Coppinger in your team. He has terrific movement, great feet and has always been a threat.

“Although he hasn’t scored too many goals this season and was on loan at Nottingham Forest, I know what he is capable of producing and he is definitely a big threat.

“Doncaster have also got a big commanding central defender in Rob Jones who I believe is struggling to be fit for the game and that would be a big advantage for Bournemouth.”

Asked for his score prediction, Stock replied: “Both clubs are very close to my heart and it would be easy for me to sit on the fence and say it will be a draw. But I really think it will be and don’t think there will many goals in the game. It will be tight and a set-piece could win it.

“Doncaster have the best away record in the division and Bournemouth have been very good at home. The ideal scenario for me would be to see both of them go up.”
