YOUNG girl motocross racer Molly Cutler finished her first event of the season with a top-12 finish on a rough and sandy circuit at Tincleton, near Dorchester.

Molly finished a creditable 11th place out of 36 other six to eight-year-olds at the recent 2013 opening round of the club championship series staged by the Ringwood Motocross Club.

Molly loves her motocross and is not fazed by the fact that most of her rivals in the Automatic 50cc group are boys.

In fact the eight-year-old from Ringwood, who has been coached by her proud father Mick, was awarded the club’s girl racer of the day trophy.

She completed all three of her races ahead of her nearest girl rival Helice Galway from Upton who ended the day outside of the top 20.

Molly is preparing to compete in the second round on Sunday at another top local venue for the club to be held at Whiting's Water Farm, Guy's Marsh, near Shaftesbury (spectators are free of charge).

“Molly has surprised us all really how well she has taken to motocross,” said Mick. “A top-10 finish in the Ringwood club championship would be great.

“I know she has an eye on the top girl trophy for the South Coast Auto 50cc challenge which the club also hosts, although, Helice is another good motocross girl and will be a tough cookie to beat.

“Molly is never under any pressure from us to do well and has so many friends involved in the sport now that I can see her carrying on for another good few years,” he added.

n Ringwood Motocross Club prospect Danny Tattersall from Lytchett Matravers has stepped up to the Small-Wheel 85’s class this season.

The 11-year-old Sandford Middle School pupil clinched overall runners-up position on the podium in the club championship series in the Junior 65cc class in 2012.

Danny has targeted the top spot this term in his new class and on a new bike.
