BOURNEMOUTH are steaming up fast on the outside lane in the NatWest Under-16 Indoor Cricket Championships at Hampshire’s Ageas Bowl.

Led by skipper Harry Weal’s runs, they beat Alton by 43 runs before thumping table-toppers Basingstoke & North Hants – a result that could prove very significant in the top-four final standngs.

Weal’s 65-run aggregate put him firmly in the frame to join Ben Draper (South Wilts) and Basingstoke’s Brad Taylor as the players with the most runs in the compettion.

Bournemouth climbed into third place, with the potential of finishing top if they win their remaining games.

The final-round of fixtures will take place on March 31.
