WIMBORNE Town boss Steve Cuss failed to hide his frustration after Magpies had stumbled to a 2-2 draw against nine-man Abingdon United.
The Oxfordshire outfit held on at Cuthbury despite having two players sent off during Saturday’s eventful Division One South & West clash.
Carl Evans put Abingdon in front with a hotly-disputed eighth-minute opener before Jon Blake headed an equaliser on 31 minutes.
Abingdon’s Gareth Thomas saw red with 20 minutes remaining after he had been deemed to have illegally halted George Webb’s run on goal.
Webb won a penalty shortly after and when prolific midfielder Micky Hubbard converted, Wimborne looked to have done enough.
But Evans levelled with his second before Abingdon stood firm – even after Kevin Halliday had been given his marching orders in added time.
Wimborne boss Cuss told the Daily Echo: “We felt a little bit hard done by for their first goal as we felt it was a clear foul on Jason Harvell.
“That gave us a mountain to climb but we fought back and got 2-1 up. By that time, they had had a man sent off.
“But it was even more frustrating that we didn’t see it through. We hit the bar and the post and it was disappointing that we were not clinical enough to finish the game at 2-1 up.”
Magpies: Harvell, Arnold, Maybury, Costello, Brian, Blake, Hubbard, Webb, Kemble, Smith, Jeffes (Sainsbury, 71). Unused subs: Cole, Peprah-Annan, Roast, Ackerman (g/k).
