MANAGER Tom Killick has sealed a loan deal for Exeter City’s Jacob Jagger Cane ahead of tomorrow’s promotion showdown at Hungerford.

Killick has named Cane in his squad after finalising the paperwork on the 18-year-old midfielder’s initial one-month move to Tatnam.

Dolphins had been keen to bolster their resources after influential engine-room man Glenn Howes sustained a season-ending knee injury.

Youngster Cane, who signed a professional contract with Exeter during the summer, has made one substitute appearance in League Two this term.

Cane, last season’s East Devon Grecians player of the year for the club’s under-18s, could make his Poole debut in one of Dolphins’ biggest games of the Southern League Division One South & West season tomorrow (3pm).

Second-placed Poole, who have five games in hand on title rivals Hungerford, will be bidding to cut the leaders’ five-point advantage at the top.

  • Bashley boss Frank Gray believes his struggling team will have gained confidence from their 2-1 midweek win over Chippenham Town.

The Southern Premier outfit will be aiming to climb further away from the drop zone when they entertain Arlesey Town at the Recreation Ground.

Bash, who are in advanced talks to join forces with neighbours New Milton Town, sit four points clear of the relegation places ahead of the game.

Gray told the Daily Echo: “We had to match Chippenham physically and I thought we handled that side of the game well.

“Tomorrow is another game but it is good to go into it having won and we will go in with a bit of confidence.”

Gray has named an unchanged squad.

Bash: (from) Moore, Strickland, Oliver, Finlay, Middleton, Richardson, Casey, Colson, Stokoe, Gradwell, Gamble, Knight, Hill, Foster, Gazzard, Kearn.

  • Wessex League basement outfit New Milton Town face a potentially crucial away clash with fellow relegation battlers Romsey Town.

Bottom-club Milton trail lowly Romsey by three points but hold three games in hand on their Premier Division rivals.

Verwood Town, Hamworthy United and Bournemouth Poppies are all facing stern examinations against title-challenging teams.

Adie Arnold’s men welcome leaders Alresford Town to Potterne Park, while Hammers entertain second-placed Downton at the County Ground.

Poppies face a trip to third-placed Blackfield & Langley, while, in Wessex One, Ringwood Town host Stockbridge.
