BOSS Simon Browne praised Hamworthy’s battling qualities after watching his team register back-to-back league wins for the first time this season.
Hammers made the most of beating the weather on Saturday to claim a 1-0 victory over Lymington Town in testing conditions at the Sports Ground.
Stefan Penny, on as an early substitute for ankle-injury victim Dave Sturgess, got the only goal of the game to lift Hammers to 10th in the standings.
Hamworthy, who have lost just once in their past six league matches, also secured consecutive league wins for the first time this term.
Manager Browne told the Daily Echo: “In the past two games, we haven’t pulled up any trees in our performance but, sometimes, it is about grinding out positive results.”
Browne revealed that the club’s kit man was left facing the biggest challenge of the day – trying to clean Hammers’ yellow strip.
“With the amount of rain we had, the pitch was very heavy,” added Browne.
“People were sliding around and the kit man will have a fairly hefty job on his hands. That mud on yellow will mean he will have to get out the washing powder.”
Hammers: Knights, Murray, Staines, Horlock, Ayling, Hester, Lanahan, Sturgess (Penny, 15), Wyatt, Shovelton (Pekun, 80), Bradley (Carlile, 65).
