WIGAN boss Roberto Martinez looks set to ring the changes for Saturday's FA Cup clash with Cherries.

Martinez admitted the hectic festive schedule of four games in 11 days had overwhelmed his squad after the Latics were thumped 4-0 by Manchester United on Tuesday.

The Spaniard could hand starts to the likes of Ronnie Stam, Jordi Gomez and Callum McManaman at the DW Stadium, while Angelo Henriquez is line to make his debut after signing on loan from Old Trafford.

Martinez told the Wigan Evening Post: “The players are all approaching this run of games with a very positive attitude and they want to make an impact to help the team.

“Ronnie (Stam), Jordi (Gomez) and Callum (McManaman) all showed good signs when they came on against Manchester United.

“But, overall, it was too much to ask of the squad to compete over 90 minutes with a United team full of quality and, more significantly, fresh legs.

“We have been able to take the opportunity to freshen up our midfield combination in the last week.

“James McArthur was rested at Aston Villa and David Jones was given a break on Tuesday because he was suffering with a virus and had to take antibiotics.

“We needed to share the demands of that midfield partnership and, over the next few weeks, hopefully we can keep refreshing players at a big point in our season.”
