MANAGER’S THOUGHTS – Joe Dunne
Dunne told the Daily Gazette: “Bournemouth must be rubbing their hands about today, looking at the form table.
“But it could be a coupon buster this weekend because no-one will have us down to win, that’s for sure.
“There will be a big X next to Bournemouth on the coupon but we’ve got to go there and upset a few people.”

MANAGER’S THOUGHTS – Eddie Howe
Howe told the Daily Echo: “We are aware that we can’t get ahead of ourselves or take our foot off the pedal. A lot of that comes from how we train.
“I have been very pleased with how the players have trained this week. They have got a good balance about them at the moment where they are confident and playing with freedom but they are still aware that you can’t take liberties with the game.
“It doesn’t matter who you are playing, if you drop your standards, intensity levels and quality by any percentage, you risk losing a game.”
Discussing Colchester, Howe added: “We have had Bury and Scunthorpe away from home recently where it has been a very quick game and very up and at them and in our faces. I think this will be a different challenge.”
2:53pm
ONE TO WATCH – ANTHONY WORDSWORTH
A product of the Colchester youth ranks, the goalscoring midfielder has been one of the club’s most consistent performers over the past few seasons.
His exploits have seen him linked with a move away from Essex, with Cherries believed to have been among his suitors during the January 2012 transfer window.
Colchester boss Joe Dunne appointed Wordsworth as captain in September and appears resigned to losing him, either next month or in the summer.
Speaking last month, Dunne said: “Will I lose Anthony? Probably. That is the way of football at the moment, I am afraid, and I will probably lose a few more.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Anthony were to leave even before the end of the season. If somebody came in, then he might.
“He is over 24 (in January) so he is on a free at the end of the season. He is not a free in January, but he probably wouldn’t be as much as he would if he were under a longer contract.
“He has been a great servant to us and he continues to be. He is pivotal to what we were trying to do at the club and we don’t want to lose our best players.”
Colchester’s free-kick specialist and penalty taker, Wordsworth has netted three goals this season, taking his tally to 35 in almost 200 appearances for the club.
