WIMBORNE Town vice-chairman Paul Miller expressed his delight after securing manager Steve Cuss on an extended contract.

The Magpies announced on Thursday night that Cuss had penned a deal to remain at Cuthbury at least until the end of the 2014-15 season.

Miller and the Wimborne hierarchy handed Cuss his first managerial role as Alex Browne’s successor in April 2011.

And after a tough start, the former Poole Town assistant has steadily overseen an upturn in the Southern League club’s fortunes.

Wimborne have made a solid opening to the Division One South & West campaign and have an outside chance of reaching the play-offs.

Speaking after news of the contract, Miller told the club’s official website: “We are absolutely delighted that Steve has agreed to a two-year extension to his contract. He is an integral part of Wimborne Town and is very much part of our plans to take the club forward.

“We cannot express strongly enough how delighted we are that Steve has agreed to help Wimborne Town progress at least until the end of the 2015 season, not only on the pitch but off it as well.”

Cuss is also heavily involved in football in his day job, which is as the head of AFC Bournemouth’s Community Sports Trust.
