CHRISTCHURCH manager Graham Kemp says Harry Cornick has been left “shell-shocked” at the speed of his rapid rise.
Boss Eddie Howe invited Cornick to train with Cherries this week after first reading about the Wessex Premier star’s exploits in the Daily Echo, as was also the case with Charlie Austin.
The 17-year-old, who is believed to be set for a trial at Brighton next week, scored during a 20-minute cameo for Cherries’ reserves in midweek.
Cornick’s club manager Kemp told the Daily Echo: “I speak to Harry every day and he is enjoying it. I think he is a little bit shell-shocked at how quickly it has happened.”
Kemp, who has also seen both Michael Green (Port Vale) and Ben Dickenson (Brighton) leave Christchurch for league clubs in recent years, added: “He can play local football any time. The opportunity to go to a league club doesn’t come around very often.
“Harry has now got the door open for him and it is for him and others to now decide how far up the ladder he goes.”
