WESSEX Premier strugglers New Milton Town twice surrendered a lead as they failed to close out victory in their derby clash at Victoria Park.

Richard Jackson’s last-gasp leveller earned Bournemouth Poppies a 2-2 draw against Darren Curtis’s Linnets last night.

Jackson’s strike deep into stoppage time deprived the lowly Linnets of a much-needed victory.

Ashley Booker’s 25-yard shot handed the visitors a sixth-minute lead before Connor Phillips headed home his sixth goal in as many games to restore parity.

Dan Fox looked to have won it for Milton when he nodded home Tommy Donaldson’s 71st-minute corner, but there was still time for Jackson to have the final say.

  • Hamworthy United boss Simon Browne admitted two missed opportunities had been “pivotal moments” after his men were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with Hamble at the County Ground.

Carl Bradley put Hammers 1-0 up before they failed to convert chances either side of the interval.

Hamble scored a disputed late penalty before making Hammers hold on for a point. Browne said: “If we had taken those chances, I am pretty certain we would have gone on to win the game.”
