READING prospect Andrew Jenkinson kept his cool from the penalty spot to hand Bashley an impressive 2-1 victory at Arlesey Town.
The midfielder, on loan from the Premier League club, held his nerve in the 89th minute to help Bash end Arlesey’s unbeaten Southern League record at Armadillo Stadium.
Bashley’s win last night night also continued their improving form under manager Frank Gray as they took to seven their points return from the past four Premier Division matches.
Chris Dillon hit the woodwork early on for Arlesey before the busy Jenkinson saw a shot blocked.
The same player was then denied by Arlesey keeper Nathan Abbey after a run deep into enemy territory.
Abbey was beaten, though, when Bash frontman Mark Gamble capitalised on a poor backpass to fire the New Foresters into a 36th-minute lead.
Drew Roberts levelled 11 minutes after the break but, with time running out, Rob Gradwell earned a penalty for Bash when he was felled by Derek Brown.
Jenkinson lashed home the spot kick before Bash held out during six minutes of added time.
Bash: Moore, Strickland, Oliver, Stephenson, Middleton, Richardson, Casey, Gradwell, Stokoe, Gamble (Knight, 68), Jenkinson. Unused subs: T Hill, Gazzard, Foster, Kearn (g/k).
