WE WERE inundated with entries for our competition offering one lucky family the chance to meet the Gruffalo.

And the randomly-selected winner is grandmother Tina Mitchell, who will visit Moors Valley Country Park with her daughter, two grandsons and baby granddaughter next week.

The character will be at the popular country park to launch the new Gruffalo Spotter adventure.

In the first development of its kind, Forestry Commission England and Magic Light Pictures are bringing characters from Julia Donaldson's best-seller to life through a new, free, augmented reality app.

Families can follow clues on a self-led trail through the "deep dark wood" and use the app to bring the 3D character animation to life and take photos alongside them.

Pictures are then added to the device’s gallery, where they can be shared via social media using the hashtag #GruffaloSpotters.

The Gruffalo Spotter adventure will run at Moors Valley until the end of December and anyone who wants to take part - including our competition winners - must download the app before going to the park.

A preview of the app is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEHIfhj66nw&spfreload=5
