  • "Tripadvisor might give the potential toursit what the area is like.Looking beyond the Dr Who enthuiasts and children there has to be some question to answer.

The tardis was located to move on anti-social behaviour so therefore was is the cctv doing ? There is a camera positioned on the junction of Sea Road and Christchurch Road.So is anyone watching them ? We had this many years ago where one man was watching a mulitude of camera's.
So with a police box and cctv it does not give a positive image to the area but quite the opposite. So how long will it be manned before resources are too short or the tardis left discarded and the novelty waned ? So operationally, it looks like pcso's are to man the box.Static in one area while other neighbouring area's suffer. So the man who unveiled the tardis comes from the party who cut the police budget.Bad move,Insp Weeks and the same old suspects place their donations to advertise their companies.Boscombe has for many years succumbed to quick gimmicks that grabs the attention and then fades like the sun on the horizon.Perhaps, if the Council went toe to toe with Mr Wells and such other landlords and addressed the real issue of bad housing than you probably wouldn't need to have this but since the seventies he's been pulling you strings and always will do.Until that time comes, those councillors and officers will not be able to pick up their allowances or salaries with a clear conscience."

PRETTY cool. One opinion of Boscombe’s newest attraction, the police box in the precinct. And it’s the view of the cynical hard-nosed reporter who covered the opening yesterday, not of a child or an enthralled Doctor Who fan.

Of course, the Tardis is more than a gimmick, it’s designed to help police officers to engage more effectively with the community as well as deterring anti-social behaviour. If it brings in a little extra tourism too, then that’s an added bonus.

The final piece of the crimefighting jigsaw? Getting the Daleks and Cybermen to patrol the area. That should keep the streets safe.
