ROS Crocker of Tuckton recognised her husband Brian Crocker and father-in-law Ralph Crocker in Donna Martin’s photograph of Christchurch British Legion Football Club.

She could also name everyone pictured.

They are as follows, back row, left to right, Percy Jeans, Phil Place, Brian Hayward, Tony Burgess, the goalkeeper David ‘Mop’ Adey, Bernie Saxton, Les Bullen and coach Ralph Crocker in the coat and hat. In the front row are Brian Crocker, Pete Edwards, Robert Whitfield, Derek Phillips and Dave Pritchard.

Former Christchurch resident Norman Wilkins, now of Bournemouth, knew many of the players in the photograph, either through local amateur football circles or they lived near him in Christchurch.

Pete Edwards and Bernie Saxton also played for Norman’s team, Christchurch Football Club, and Dave Pritchard was also a member of the Highcliffe Football Club.

When Norman played for Christchurch he lived at Purewell, as did Dave Pritchard. ‘Mop’ Adey, the goalkeeper lived nearby in Livingstone Road and his brother was in Norman’s class at school.

Les Bullen lived at Mudeford and Bernie Saxton at

Somerford.

Norman thinks Brian

Crocker and his father Ralph owned the Dorset Glass company in Poole.

Several of the Christchurch British Legion Football Club players have since passed away.
