WHEN Danielle was pregnant as a teenager, she feared her dreams were over.

Aged 19 and studying at university, people openly told her she was going to ruin her life.

But today Danielle Manton-Kelly couldn’t be happier. She has launched two businesses, graduated twice, and is now expecting a third baby with her husband Stephen.

The parenting blogger, has now shared her story with the Daily Echo to give other teenage parents hope.

She said: “I was nineteen, in my second year of university and I was pregnant.

“My boyfriend of four years and I had always felt like a pretty strong couple, at that moment in time however, we were terrified, completely lost and suddenly unable to imagine our situation unfolding into a positive future.

“After a few months it all became too much for us to handle together and we broke up.

“I found myself alone, scared and staring into a giant pit of uncertainty.”

But Danielle was determined she would keep her baby and would graduate from university to create a stable life for her child.

“I spent a good while plodding along, dragging myself to lectures while trying not to fall asleep, cry or vomit.

“I automatically lost a good proportion of my 'friends' who couldn't handle my situation. I did have the support of my close friends and family but as with anyone you are close to - you can always see what their true feelings are by the looks on their faces. They were all extremely anxious.

“Some didn't mind telling me how worried they were for my future. Many told me that it would be easier to give university altogether. Some said that I was selfish for planning to carry on with my studies with a child. I was accused of draining people's taxes before the baby was even born. A few incredibly unkind people informed me that I was going to ruin my life as well as the lives of those around me.

“For a group of 'grown ups' they certainly were naive. And wrong.

“Always remember that nothing is impossible. If you want anything badly enough then it can be achieved.”

Danielle, who went to Royal Holloway, days where she hadn’t slept, the house was a mess and she had an essay to write but it was Bella, who is now six, gave her the determination to carry on.

“For me it was the image of my child one day visiting my classroom and seeing me teach that kept me going.

“This would be the moment when I would know we had made it. I would be able to show her what all of our hard work was for. She would grow up knowing just how strong women are.”

Danielle moved in with two close friends who supported her through the pregnancy and for Bella's first year.

It was during this time Danielle and Stephen, a carpenter and trainee site manager, realised they should never have split up.

The former St Peter's Catholic School pupil finished her course, volunteered at a school and got a job as a teaching assistant before she moved back to Bournemouth to train as a teacher.

However, when she was completing her first year as a teacher, she fell pregnant again with Connie, who is now two.

It was when she was on maternity leave, she trained as a child minder and launched her own business.

The couple, who are expecting their third baby in October, have since started another business Quayside Wedding Crechers to look after children at events.

Danielle, who also writes a parenting blog with her husband in a bid to help young parents, said: “If someone had told me on the day I looked down at that positive test, that I would graduate twice, marry my baby’s father and go on to have another two children while starting my own two businesses, I would have laughed in their face.

"I feel really proud of the decisions I have made. If it wasn't for Bella, I wouldn't have achieved nearly as much. There is no better motivation that having a perfect little person to be a role model for.

"Of course there were times I was scared but there was no option to fail. Nothing easy is ever worth it anyway.

"You just have to decide what you want in life and as soon as you have that clarity, just go for it."
