1. The Wimborne Minster Folk Festival comes to town this weekend. There will be festival activities at venues throughout the town from Friday evening until Sunday evening. 

Festivities get under way with music on the Square from 6pm on Friday and the opening concert at the Allendale Centre, featuring Two Coats Colder with support from Ninebarrow. Saturday and Sunday will see the town come alive with dance groups from across the UK and Europe. 

The traditional procession takes place at 2.30pm on Saturday. Tickets for all festival concerts are on sale at Wimborne Tourist Information Centre and at www.wimbornefolk.co.uk. The official programme is also now available to buy from the TIC and the Allendale Centre.

2. Race For Life comes to Bournemouth seafront this Sunday. Registration is still open with 5k and 10k races to choose from. Last year, 3400 women took part in Race for Life in Bournemouth and raised more than £206,000. 
This year's race entry is now closed, but you can still go down and watch.

3. The second annual Swanage Fish Festival takes place this weekend. There will be demonstrations, stalls, live music and more at Prince Albert Gardens. The event runs between 10am and 11pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

4. Bournemouth's first ever free ping pong festival comes to town from today. The event takes place throughout the summer and today's launch will include exhibition matches with Chloe Thomas, the British Universities & Colleges Sport Singles Champion and head coach at Dorset Table Tennis Centre, Matt Ware. There will also be a visit from AFC Bournemouth’s Cherry Bear. The ping pong extravaganza will see over 20 ping pong tables springing up at various locations across Bournemouth including Central Gardens, Queen’s Park and Tuckton Tea Gardens.

5. A number of street parties will be taking place in honour of the Queen's 90th birthday. There will even be a party for up to 2,000 people in Ringwood High Street on Sunday and a giant picnic in New Milton, including music, pyrotechnics and a flypast.

6. Thousands of people are expected to flock to Corfe Mullen for the 50th annual carnival. The procession headed by the Carnival Princess and her attendants will leave Ivor Road at 1.30pm to travel the 1.5miles to the events ground which this year is located at the recreation ground in Badbury View Road where there will be a wide variety of entertainment and fun activities for all age groups taking place from 1pm to 5pm with over 50 stalls and static displays.

7. A fair takes place at St Edwards Church in Corfe Castle on Saturday. This event, 10am-4pm, includes a number of stalls, light lunches, refreshments and a raffle. There will also be a novelty dog show with eight classes. Dog show registration is from 11.30am. Call 01929 480 323 for dog show details.

8. A summer fair comes to Ashley Cross Green between 10am and 3.30pm. There will be a dog show from 1pm, as well as a number of stands selling refreshments, crafts and gifts, a tombola, bouncy castle, and much more. Admission is via a donation. 

9. England play Russia on Saturday night in Euro 2016. Lots of pubs all over Dorset are showing the match on their big screens.

10.  The Friends of the Red House Museum will hold their garden party on Saturday at 1pm. The event will take place in the grounds of the museum in Quay Road.

11.  A free-entry land art installation is being created at Blackwater Arboretum in Ornamental Drive on Saturday. Jacqueline Rolls will be using natural materials found on the ground to make the artwork from 10am to 3pm as part of the New Forest Arts Festival which opens on Saturday and runs until Sunday, June 26. Visit Newforestnpa.gov.uk/events

12. A Cocktail Extravaganza comes to the Royal Exeter Hotel on Sunday. There will be a cocktail making competition, live music and a fashion show. The event takes place between 3pm and 11pm to raise funds for dementia and Alzheimer's research. Entry is free but you'll need to pay to take part in the raffle. 

13. The Cheese & Chilli Festival will take place at Parley Manor this weekend from 10am to late on Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday.
